Dear E-LASS member,

A very warm and grateful THANK YOU to all of you who participated in the digital E-LASS event on the 16th of September. You all helped us in making it a great success! We were totally 100 registered participants and enjoyed 11 interesting presentations on projects, techniques and ideas – you can find all the presentations and a summary of the event at

As mentioned at the end of the event, Franz is planning to coordinate input on the IMO Guidelines in MSC.1/Circ.1574 “Interim Guidelines for use of Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) elements within Ship Structures: Fire Safety Issues”. The guidelines are soon due to be amended, based on experience gained from applying them. They are primarily directed to Administrations, but input from E-LASS members’ experience from applying the guidelines are equally welcome. Please email by 22 Nov if you wish to participate in the correspondence in this regard, to provide input or to take part of the input collected.

The next E-LASS event is planned as two afternoon sessions on 27 and 28 January 2021 and it will also be held digitally – please register for the event below and schedule 12.30-16.30 (CET) these days in your calendar.

As proposed by several in the final survey at the previous event, we hope that a theme of the seminar part of the event can be “manufacturing and industrial process methods” in addition to the reoccurring theme “application success stories”. We welcome presentation proposals to the next E-LASS event, in particular in line with those themes – please send your presentation proposal as a short (1/2 page) abstract to There are also preliminary plans of arranging interviews and a virtual industry tour.

We warmly welcome your presentations ideas and look forward to seeing you in January!
Franz, Tommy and Rebecca
